One held in Kolkata manager's kidnap case

BOKARO: Police arrested the member of a gang that tried to kidnap a sales manager of a Kolkata firm during his visit to the town on Tuesday evening. Police have identified the other three people involved in the incident. "Raids are on to nab them," said SP Y S Ramesh.
The victim, Vinod Sharma, arrived at the Dhanbad railway station on Tuesday and was travelling to Bokaro in a taxi when the incident happened.

The accused who have been identified as Suraj Mahto, Rajender Mahto, Sumeet Singh and Prakash spotted Sharma at a roadside dhaba when he halted there to have his dinner.
Chas DSP Arvind Kumar Sinha said that later the accused followed the victim in their car and stopped the taxi near Telmouchu bridge. Three of them forcibly sat in the car with Sharma, removed driver and drove the vehicle towards Bokaro town. They snatched Rs 6,000, ATM and cellphones from Sharma and taxi driver Ashok Kumar.
When the taxi reached Sai Mandir Chowk in Sector-VI area, the victim and driver started shouting following which the kidnappers left the vehicle and fled. Sharma later went to Sector-VI police station and complained about the incident.
The SP formed a police team who conducted a raid in Sector-IX under Harla police station and arrested Suraj Mahto from the house of businessman Rajender Mahto. Rajender fled with his two associates from the spot.
The DSP said they found that one of the kidnappers had left his mobile in the taxi and taken Sharma's cellphone which helped in the identification. A case has been lodged with Chas muffassil police station.
