One arrested for sexually assaulting widow

Gumla: Police arrested Lal Bihari Gope (29), a resident of a locality under Karanj police station of Gumla district, following allegations of sexually assaulting a 32-year-old widow.
According to the woman's complaint, she received an unexpected call on her phone two months ago, leading to regular telephone conversations. "When I told him that I am a widow with two children, he assured their enrolment in a Ranchi school, claiming that he has many acquaintances," she said in her complaint.
Later, the accused invited her to the Sisai block headquarters under the pretext of school admission procedures. "As I reached Sisai, he took me to Basia road and raped me. He did the same in his village Karang and left me near Kumharia on the way. He threatened to kill me if I inform anyone," she further added.
The officer-in-charge of the Gumla district mahila police station Ankita Sahu confirmed that the accused has been arrested.
