Nurse, five-yr-old daughter killed in Ranchi road accident
Ranchi: A contractual nurse working with the Ranchi Institute of Neuro-Psychiatry and Allied Sciences (Rinpas) and her daughter were killed when a speeding truck hit their two-wheeler near the Joda bridge under the Kanke police station on Friday morning.Police said the victims, Rashmi Kacchap (36) and her daughter Ishika Lakra (5), were residents of Chuditola in the Kanke area. The woman was taking her child to school in Doranda when the speeding vehicle carrying iron pipes hit her vehicle, leading to their deaths on the spot, police added.Kacchap's husband, Sohail Lakra, is in the Border Security Force and is currently undergoing training in Africa.Soon after the accident, angry locals blocked the road for about four hours in protest while they demanded the arrest of the driver and proper compensation for the family members of the deceased.Kanke MLA Suresh Baitha came to the spot and talked to the administration about the issues. He said, "The administration would provide one lakh as interim relief to the victims' family. The Rims management has also agreed to give a job to Kacchap's sister."After getting the information, Rinpas officials also offered help to the victims' family. Dr Siddharth Sinha of Rinpas said, "The bodies of the victims are currently kept in the cold room of Rinpas."Ranchi SP (rural) Praveen Pushkar said, "We have registered a case related to rash and negligent driving in connection with the accident. The vehicle has been seized, but the driver is absconding."
