Chatra: An NTPC employee was run over by a speeding trailer near Jabra Kasari More under Simaria police station limits on Sunday night.Police identfiied the victim as Kamlesh Oraon (40). His death triggered protests, with villagers blocking Ranchi-Chatra road for nearly three hours.Simaria circle officer Gaurav Kumar Raj and police station in-charge Surya Pratap Singh assured compensation to the bereaved family, after which the blockade was called off.Simaria circle officer Gaurav Kumar Raj and officer-in-charge (OC) Surya Pratap Singh said an immediate relief of Rs 3 lakh has been approved, of which Rs 2 lakh has been handed over through cheque and Rs 30,000 in cash. The remaining amount will be paid soon, the officers said.
