NGOs to work with govt

Ranchi: A total of 65 non-government organisations (NGOs) along with representatives of government departments convened a meeting on Saturday to implement government schemes.
Addressing the first meeting to discuss the modalities of forming GO-NGO to meet the challenges of Sustainable Development Goals, the special secretary of the department of agriculture, Pradep Hazari, said a policy framework was essential for the functioning of the GO-NGO network. “The data about the funds available and expertise of the individual NGOs must be documented for ready reference,” he said.
Former VC of the Vinoba Bhave University Ramesh Sharan underlined the importance of transparency in the working of NGOs and a perception change. A self-regulatory mechanism is necessary to weed out corruption and malpractices in a handful of NGOs so that those working honestly should not face trust issues. TNN
