Jamshedpur: The 34th annual flower show and the 41st All India Rose Convention are engaging flower lovers at the Gopal Maidan in Bistupur as 2024 draws to a close and people are ready to ring in 2025. Over 3,000 roses of various species and gardening innovations are on display at the show. The flower show is hosting 30 nurseries and 16 octagon hangars for the gardeners.
The highlight of this year's rose show is the display of a new white rose specimen released in memory of the former Tata Group chairman Ratan Tata, who passed away on October 9 this year. The commemorative rose will later be planted at the newly inaugurated rose garden at Sir Dorabji Tata Park. A separate enclosure has been set up at the venue as a mark of respect to the legendary industrialist.
The four-day event, which started on Dec 29 and would culminate on Jan 1, is being organised by the horticulture society of Jamshedpur in collaboration with Tata Steel and Tata Steel UISL. Ornamental and herbal plants, rare and exquisite flowers, and prize-winning roses besides decoration tips activities are also attracting the crowd.
Reflecting the spirit of spring and the festive mood of the city, the flower show has been organised on the theme "Charo Taraf Gul Aur Gulab Hai, Jamshedpur Mein Aayi Bahar Hai." Delegations from Pune, Nagpur, Delhi, Kolkata, Durgapur, Rourkela Ranchi and host Jamshedpur are attending the rose convention, which is being held at adjoining Tulsi Bhavan.
The workshops and technical sessions are being conducted by recognised horticulturists. The attending delegates at the workshop are being educated about innovative gardening techniques.
The sit-and-draw competition of schoolchildren besides mobile photography and cultural performances in the evening made the show engaging and interesting to the visitors.
