New species to attract visitors at JNB fish house
Bokaro: The zoo authorities of Jawaharlal Nehru Biological (JNB) Park in Bokaro is currently in the process of renovating its public aquarium to revive its charm among visitors, particularly children. The fish house at the zoo had been closed for several years due to poor maintenance. The addition of new fish species to the aquarium is expected to be a major attraction.
The BSL's chief general manager of town and administration, Bhupinder Singh Popli, said that the civil maintenance work at the fish house is complete. The BSL has also decided to introduce a range of new fish species to the aquarium, including Oscar fish, Red Bellied Piranha, Parrot fish, Angel fish, Black Ghost, Senegal, Bichir, and solitary warrior fish. Besides the fish house renovation, the zoo has made other efforts to enhance visitors' experiences. It is currently in the process of changing the direction of its toy train and extending its track from half a kilometre to about 1.25 km. Additionally, plans are underway to establish a butterfly park on its premises.
"The JNB Park's renovation efforts are indicative of a broader trend among zoos and aquariums worldwide, which are increasingly incorporating educational and conservation-focused initiatives into their operations," said Manikant Dhan, BSL spokesperson.
