NDRF team head R K Singh said the temperature in the crater was above 160°C when the body was pulled out.

Parmeshwar was reportedly missing for the past two days. Locals noticed a body in the trench-like crater on Friday and suspected it to be that of Parmeshwar as he was seen loitering in the area. They informed BCCL officials, who, in turn, informed the mines rescue team of Bastakola. A rescue team tried to pull out the body stuck at about 25ft below the earth surface but failed due to heat and fumes. The matter was communicated to NDRF in Ranchi, which retrieved the body. It was sent to SNMMCH for autopsy. The family members of the deceased identified the body to be that of Parmeshwar. He might have slipped into the trench while collecting coal.

Jharia circle officer P Kushwaha said the family members of Parmeshwar were shifted to Belgaria rehabilitation Colony. However, many families were still living in the hazardous area, risking their lives. He assured the family members of compensation as per government rules.
