NDA set to face defeat in Haryana, J&K: D Raja

Ranchi: CPI national general secretary D Raja asserted on Saturday that the BJP-led NDA would suffer losses in the upcoming assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana, claiming that the decline of the saffron party’s popularity among the voters began with the recent Lok Sabha election.According to Raja, people in Jammu and Kashmir are eager to regain their statehood after BJP divided it into Union territories. In Haryana, farmers are dissatisfied with the Union govt’s inability to announce guaranteed minimum support prices for all crops, while sportspersons, who are abundant in the state, hold a grudge against the Centre for failing to ensure justice in cases of sexual harassment of their colleagues. On Jharkhand, the CPI leader said BJP is engaged in weakening the ruling parties and poaching their leaders while attempting to polarize the people by raising issues of conversion and infiltration at the same time. He emphasized that the Union home ministry is responsible for the infiltration happening across the country.Citing the importance of Left parties in the INDIA bloc, Raja urged major parties in the alliance to include all opposition parties in the fight for state assembly polls. Speaking about the merger of the Marxist Coordination Committee with the CPI-ML, he said Left unity is also on the national agenda. Meanwhile, Mahendra Pathak, the CPI state secretary, said his party is preparing to contest 20 to 25 seats in the state assembly election. He also said a CPI state-level meeting would be held in Ranchi on Sunday.
