Murder & rape shock Palamu residents

Daltonganj: A murder and a rape shocked the resients of Palamu on Tuesday.
A 40-year-old woman, identified as Kunti Devi, was killed late on Monday night at Dhangaon in the Lesliganj police station area, said police after preliminary investigation. She used to sell illicit liquor.
Police found injury marks on her head, hands and legs. Ajay Kumar, DSP Palamu, said the motive was not known.Kunti Devi's husband and son work in Ranchi as daily wagers.
In another incident, a 16-year-old boy raped his six-year-old niece in Palamu's Hussainabad.
Police said the child's mother was not at home when the incident took place. Earlier too, the boy had sexually harassed the child.
However, on Tuesday, the girl's brothers and a sister saw him in the act and informed their mother Poonam Devi. R K Baraik, DSP Hussainabad, said Ravi Kumar Chowdhury was arrested.
Poonam Devi has lodged the FIR said Baraik. The police officer said the mother took out the truth from her minor daughter after great many pressures and persuasions as the minor was too afraid to speak any thing against her uncle who had threatened to finish her if she would say anything about this to any one.
