Minor boy drowns in Chatra
Chatra: A child drowned in a pit dug for railway project by the Millennium Railway Company near Murve village in Simaria of Chatra on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Raj Kumar (11). He was a resident of Bagra village but was living at the Katia-based house of his maternal uncle, Sandeep Singh, for the past six months. He had lost his father a few years ago.
The incident happened when Raj tried to fetch water from the pit. The villagers pulled the child out of the water, but by then the child had died. They charged company of negligence and demanded compensation as well as action against the construction company officails.
Simaria SDO Sunny Raj, SDPO Shubham Khandelwal, BDO Chandradev Prasad, inspector Anil Oraon, Simaria police station officer-in-charge Priyash Prasoon reached the spot.
