Migrant, who sneaked into his home without screening, tests Covid-19 positive in Hazaribag

for Covid-19. He is one of the seven new cases to have emerged from the district on Wednesday.

Alarmed with the development, deputy commissioner Bhuvanesh Pratap Singh ordered the blood and swab samples of the family members of the migrant to be collected for Covid-19 test. “Without getting himself screened, the man sneaked into his home. It was his neighbours who informed us, following which he was shifted to a government quarantine facility,” Singh said.

The man’s samples were first tested by a Truenat machine and then sent to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences. Both the reports came positive.

Of the seven fresh cases, three were from Kolghatti, one from Hazaribag Muffassil, two from

Barkattha

and one from Katkumsandi. With the new additions, Hazaribag’s Covid-19 tally rose to 55. So far, 19 patients have recovered from Covid-19 in the district.

With more than 60,000 migrants returning to the district since May 1, the number of coronavirus cases is expected to rise. Moreover, 22 Shramik special trains are set to arrive here in the coming days.
