Medals for 40 police personnel

Ranchi: State government on Tuesday announced awards for 40 police personnel, including four with Jharkhand Governor’s medal for distinguished service, five with Jharkhand Chief Minister’s medal for valour and 31 with Jharkhand Police medal for commendable service.Among the people who have been awarded medals for valour are deputy SP Neeraj Kumar of anti-terrorist squad, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Sanoj Kumar Choudhary and constable Prakash Kumar Yadav of Chatra police, ASI Subhash Chandra Lakra of Ranchi district and Sonu Kumar Sahu of Ramgarh district. Sanoj and Prakash were part of the police team which was involved in an encounter with Maoists under Hunterganj police station area of Chatra district in October 2022. Among the personnel given distinguished services medals are commandant, Jharkhand Armed Police-4, Ashwani Kumar Sinha, inspector, Investigation Training School, Asit Kumar Modi, and constables Sachin Subba and Raju Singh Khetri of Jharkhand Jaguar. Inspector general (headquarters) Manoj Kaushik, deputy inspector general Narendra Kumar Singh and several deputy SPs and other personnel have been chosen for the commendable service medal. TNN
