RANCHI: A Maoist, who shot at a 17-year-old tribal girl for lodging an FIR against the rebels who abducted and gangraped her, was arrested on Friday.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided Tarwadih village under Latehar police station and nabbed Arun Yadav, the accused, who is also involved in several abductions and killings in the area.
On March 4, three Maoists fired at Anju Kumari at the busy Navrang Chowk near Latehar railway station.
The girl then dared to lodge an FIR against Maoist sub-zonal commander Pappu Lohra and Arun Yadav on January 20, for abduction and gangrape. She was rushed to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, where she finally recovered.
The Latehar superintendent of police said Yadav was also wanted for a landmine blast at a school in Banbirua and the abduction of a contractor for ransom on November 7, last year. "He was one of the active members of the CPI(Maoist) who was wanted in around six cases," he added.
