Man, 6-year-old son killed after SUV rams bike in Giridih
Bokaro: A man and his six-year-old son were killed, and two other members of their family were injured in a road accident involving multiple vehicles in Giridih district on Saturday. The incident took place near Pipradih overbridge under Dumri police station limits.
Police said an SUV, which was headed to Ranchi from Deoghar, rammed a motorcycle in which four members of a family were travelling. After colliding with the two-wheeler, the vehicle reportedly rammed into an SUV coming from the opposite direction before overturning near the overbridge. Traffic movement was disrupted briefly on the busy stretch.
Abbu Hayat, who was travelling on the motorbike with his son Animul, daughter Alina Parveen and wife Rubena Khatun, sustained critical injuries in the accident and died while being taken to Dhanbad for treatment. Animul was killed on the spot. Alina and Rubena are undergoing treatment. The family was reportedly travelling to Bergi when the accident took place.
Dumri sub-divisional police officer Abid Khan said police and administrative officials reached the spot soon after receiving information. Damaged vehicles were removed and traffic was restored. An investigation has been launched to ascertain the exact cause, police said.
