“Madhupur will be upgraded to the status of district and Jarmundi to sub-division during my tenure as the chief minister” said Das during his speech.
Das also lauded Tatanagar Basukinath Mandali’s efforts to upgrade the dharamsala by adding more rooms – from eight to 82 - to accommodate pilgrims arriving at Basukinath.
Das said the government had already moved a proposal for a tourist circuit comprising Deoghar, Basukinath, Tarapith (West Bengal) and Maluti to encourage religious tourism. “The government will soon provide necessary infrastructure at different locations throughout the state to promote tourism,” Das said.
Das also reiterated his stance on corruption. “Officials found guilty of irregularities will not be spared,” he said. He also appealed to opposition parties to work together for the state’s development.
Das, while referring to the Maoist menace in the state, said his government would soon come forward with an ‘exemplary’ surrender policy for rebels in order to bring them into the mainstream society. He added that by Durga Puja, police control rooms (PCRs) would be set up at 20km distance on highways to keep a check on highway crime. “PCRs will enable security forces to deal with crime more effectively,” Das said.
