A salesman of a country liquor shop was shot by two unidentified criminals inside the outlet on Lohardaga road of the town on Monday night.

Gumla: A salesman of a country liquor shop was shot by two unidentified criminals inside the outlet on Lohardaga road of the town on Monday night.
The deceased, Jitbahan Prasad Gupta, was a resident of Phag village under Goh police station of Aurangabad district in Bihar .
According to police inspector Amish Hussein, a man reached the liquor shop at 9pm on Monday when Gupta and another salesman, Chandrika Ray, were taking their meal inside it.

The man demanded a pouch of wine which was given by Ray. The same person returned within two minutes and fired at them. Bullets hit Gupta's left arm, Hussein added.
After the firing, the miscreant fled and sound of a motorcycle was heard which suggested there were two criminals, Ray said in his complaint.
Soon police were informed and injured person was taken to the hospital where he succumbed to injury.
The reason behind the incident is yet to be confirmed, said the police inspector adding that Gupta did not have enmity with any one.
However, creating panic in the area might be the motive of the criminals.
Gumla police arrested 16 people who were found gambling in a house owned by Shiva Sahu at Tira village here, four km off the town, on Monday evening.
They were forwarded to jail on Tuesday. Police seized 12 motorcycles and Rs 88,000 from the gamblers besides a big bottle of wine.
