RANCHI: In a joint operation with CRPF, the Palamu police on Wednesday recovered two bankers who were kidnapped by People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI) rebels, while they were on their way to the state capital on Saturday. The kidnapped bankers worked with Panki branch of the SBI. The manager of the branch Pramod Kumar had escaped from the rebels' clutch on a day after the incident.
The police have also arrested two PLFI rebels in the operation.
The three bankers were traveling in a car that was intercepted by the rebels and they were taken to Herhanj forests. Kumar escaped when the rebels were sleeping at night and reached the police station. Palamu SP Narendra Kumar Singh denied payment of ransom for release. The victims hailed from Ranchi. Recovered persons are field officer Anup Kumar Lal and accountant A Kerketa.
