Ranchi: The Jharkhand Academic Council announced that the teachers' eligibility test will be held on November 20 after a gap of four years.

The application form for the Jharkhand Teachers' Eligibility Test (JTET) will have to be filled from September 8 to 20. JAC chairman Arvind Pratap Singh said, "The examination fees for general category applicants is Rs 500 while for the SC/STs it is Rs 250."

To clear the JTET, a general category student has to score a minimum of 60% marks, while the SC/ST and OBC students need at least 52%. The question paper will be set both in English and Hindi and it will have only objective type questions.

The two-and-a-half-hour examination will have 150 questions for 150 marks.

For recruitment of Urdu assistant teachers, the questions will be asked in Urdu and English, while for Hindi assistant teacher questions will be set in Hindi and English.

Those clearing the examination will be recruited as teachers in primary and middle schools of the state.

However,t he declaration of dates has once again raised protests from those who passed the first JTET examination in 2012 but are yet to be recruited.

Shamim Ali, a protester, said, "About 64,000 applicants cleared the first JTET, of which only 17,000 were recruited. Also, about 10,000 of those candidates who are yet to be selected are those whose age limit for recruitment has already crossed."

"In such a situation, how can government think of conducting another examination?" he asked.

The JTET pass candidates have planned to take out a protest march and gherao the CM's house on September 6.
