BOKARO: Mohammad Abbas Khan, a 55-year-old worker of the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) was shot at by three masked bike-borne miscreants under the Dugdha police station in Bokaro on Thursday night.

Khan was returning home on his motorcycle at about 10:30 pm and when he was roughly 400 metres away from his home, he was attacked by the assailants. He received two bullet injuries in his stomach and shoulder and was referred to Ranchi’s Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims) late in the night in critical condition from the Bokaro General Hospital.

Kanhaiya Ram, the officer-in-charge of the Dugdha police station, said Khan was yet to regain consciousness at Rims. “Empty cartridges were recovered from the spot. Investigations are underway to arrest the gunmen,” he said.

The police were yet to lodge an FIR till Friday evening as Khan was still unable to record his statement before the police.
