JMM and INDIA Bloc Discuss Seat Sharing for Bihar Assembly Elections
Ranchi: A day after declaring that would fight the assembly elections in Bihar alone, party spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya on Sunday said that talks were on to arrive at a reconciliation within the on for the polls.
“Talks are underway at the highest level on the issue. The scenario will be clear by late night today. I will inform media persons on Monday.”
A senior Congress leader also confirmed that discussions on seat sharing were underway with JMM.
On Saturday, Bhattacharya said his party would fight six constituencies in Bihar even as the seat sharing agreement with JMM was delayed. JMM might review its relationship with RJD in Jharkhand as well, he had added.
Reacting to the development, BJP state spokesperson Pratul Shadeo on Sunday claimed that JMM was politically humiliated by INDIA bloc partners in Bihar. He asked if JMM would continue with Congress and RJD ministers in Jharkhand’s state govt or not.
RJD state president and Hussainabad MLA Sanjay Kumar Singh Yadav said, “I cannot say much on the issue. Talks on seat sharing are taking place directly between Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren and RJD working president Tejashwi Yadav. The JMM is independent to take any stand.”
Former Congress state president Rajesh Thakur said JMM was an important part of the INDIA bloc and it should be given seats in Bihar. The move would strengthen the alliance, he added.
