Jharkhand's Parent-Teacher Meetings: A New Initiative to Boost Student Attendance and Improve Education

Ranchi: Parent-teacher meetings (PTMs), under the initiative of the Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC), have been conducted across 29,224 govt schools in state

The meetings, aimed at improving student attendance, reducing learning gaps, addressing dropouts, and strengthening communication between schools and parents, witnessed enthusiastic participation across the state.

The members of parliament attended PTMs in 290 schools, while members of the legislative assembly participated in 129 schools.

For the first time, elected representatives were invited to participate in PTMs, a step envisioned by CM Hemant Soren. Education secretary Umashankar Singh, said, "Critical discussions were held on student attendance, academic performance, examination results, parenting, sports, co-curricular activities, school environment, and effective use of resources."
