Woman shoots daughter, 15, dead in Jharkhand after fight over her marriage

BOKARO: In a rare crime, a woman shot her 15-year-old daughter dead following an altercation between the two over the latter's marriage at their home in Bagodar police station area of Jharkhand's Giridih district, walked into the police station and surrendered on Saturday late evening.

According to sources, the woman, who belongs to the minority community, shot her daughter in the head from a close range, killing her on the spot. Accused mother told the police that she had shot and killed her daughter. The police reached the spot and took the body into custody.

Giridih SP Deepak Kumar Sharma said the girl died due to bullet injury. In the investigation so far, it has come to light that the marriage of the girl was fixed by her parents, but she was in love with a man from her own village. She did not want to marry the boy chosen by her parents and hence the mother killed her, SP Deepak Kumar Sharma added.
