Ranchi: Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar on Tuesday directed that Jharkhand War Memorial located at Dipatoli in Ranchi must be promoted as a major tourist spot. He also asked officials to develop Jari, the village of Param Veer Chakra winner and martyr Albert Ekka, as a model habitat.
He issued the directions while chairing the 17th managing committee meeting of the Sainik Kalyan Board. Chief secretary Avinash Kumar, principal secretary Nitin Madan Kulkarni and other officials were also present on the occasion.
The governor also directed that pending personal and administrative works of army personnel should be disposed off early when they come home on leave in order to tackle them.
He asked about the number of Agniveers who have returned back home after completion of service and advised the state govt to give them an opportunity in police and other services.
Other issues like opening of another Sainik school in Dumka, renovation and development of Sainik market in Ranchi and opening of a dedicated training centre for tribal youths to coach them for defence services were also discussed in the meeting.
