RANCHI: In view of the prevailing heatwave conditions, the Jharkhand government has revised school timings in all schools including government, non-government aided, and private ones.
While classes for students up to Class 5 will now be conducted from 7 am to 11 am, those for Classes 6 to 12 will be conducted till noon, a circular by the state department of education and literacy stated on Tuesday.
The revised schedule would be effective from Wednesday till April 25. Depending upon the weather condition, further decision would be taken about the school timings.
According to the circular, prayer meetings, athletics, and other outdoor activities will not take place during this time, but midday meal will continue to be served. Director of Jharkhand education project council, Kiran Pasi, said, "Due to the heatwave conditions, the school schedule has been revised and will remain in effect until further notice."
All private schools, including those affiliated with the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) and the Central Board of Secondary Education (
CBSE), will alter their school schedules effective Thursday, as schools will be closed on Wednesday due to a bandh.
