Ranchi: The Jharkhand high court on Thursday clamped a stay on the CBI probe into the role of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Jharkhand University of Technology (JUT) in not allowing students of Dhanbad Institute of Technology to appear in their examinations.A bench of Chief Justice M S Sonak and Justice Rajesh Shankar passed the order in an appeal filed by the state govt and JUT. The govt challenged the order of a single judge of the high court passed on January 13 this year, directing the CBI to start an investigation into the case.Earlier, the single bench of Justice Rajesh Kumar heard the petition filed by the Dhanbad Institute of Technology (DIT), whose students have been denied permission to appear in the examinations of the institute by JUT. Advocate general Rajiv Ranjan had pleaded before the single judge that the DIT was only permitted to take 60 students as of September 9, 2025, but had taken 138 students in violation of norms. The students who were admitted beyond the admitted number were not allowed to appear in the exams, but the case was challenged by the DIT before the single judge.
