Ranchi: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has set up an extradition cell in order to bring back the persons accused of organised crime in the state, who have taken shelter in foreign countries.
The additional director general (ADG) of CID, Manoj Kaushik, said, “The extradition cell would act as a nodal agency for the state agencies and coordinate with the central agencies, including the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Union ministry of external affairs, for extradition of the criminals. It would issue lookout, blue corner, and red corner notices against the criminals and monitor the extradition process.”
Earlier, the state units pursued the extradition process. Now, the districts and the agencies would write to the cell to take up the matter.
The cell would play a strategic role in bringing notorious criminals like Prince Khan back to the state through the central agencies.
Recently, the anti-terrorism squad (ATS) had issued red corner notice against criminal Mayank Singh and brought him to India from Azerbaijan.
