Jharkhand Budget 2023-24: CM Hemant Soren Eyes 1 Lakh Crore for Development, Youth Aspirations
Ranchi: Ahead of the upcoming budget session of the state assembly next month, chief minister Hemant Soren on Thursday stressed that the state needs a strong and multidimensional budget which could put the young state on a fast-track mode of development. Last Nov, Jharkhand completed 25 years of its formation.
Chairing a pre-budget meeting at the Project Building, Hemant, who returned from the Davos and the UK trip a couple of days back, said the state budget should be balanced, inclusive and comprehensive, reflecting public aspirations and accelerating development.
“The upcoming budget is estimated to be around 1 lakh crore. Hence, we need to work in the direction of increasing revenue collection as well so that there is no shortage of funds for implementation of development and public welfare schemes,” he said adding that to connect with common people, his govt was continuously taking suggestions from them through various modes so that the public feels associated with the governance. “Besides taking suggestions from the common people for a balanced budget, discussions were continuously held with experts across the country to get their viewpoints, too,” he said.
Citing his recent trip to Davos and the UK, the CM said, “We will give a new direction to the state from experiences gained during the foreign visits. At the World Economic Forum in Davos and the visit to London, I got the opportunity to closely observe and understand their policies, prosperous economy, people’s lifestyle, work culture, and traditions.”
He added, “The new generation is moving forward with a different way of thinking. This generation is searching for paths different from traditional systems. Hence, the budget needs to be prepared according to the needs and requirements of their aspirations so that we can provide them with better opportunities.”
