Itkhori Mahotsav: State festival celebrates religious harmony

Chatra: Itkhori Mahotsav is all set to commence on February 19 with preparations in their final stages. CM Hemant Soren is scheduled to inaugurate the three-day festival which will conclude on February 21. The main stage, being constructed at the 9th-century Ma Bhadrakali temple complex, will showcase a unique blend of Hindu, Jain, and Buddhist religious elements. The centrepiece stage will feature representations of Shivling, Maa Bhadrakali, Lord Mahavir, and Gautam Buddha, symbolizing religious harmony. Its architectural design, complete with carved pillars, domes, and ornate windows, reflects the region's rich cultural heritage. The state govt has elevated Itkhori Mahotsav to the status of a state festival, attracting Buddhist delegates from various countries. The celebrations will feature cultural evenings, folk dances, and poetry gatherings.Administrative preparations are being finalized to ensure smooth operations, including security arrangements, traffic management, and sanitation facilities for visitors and devotees. Circle officer Savita Singh has urged local residents and merchants to participate actively in the festival preparations, emphasizing the importance of cleanliness and decoration.
