ISL: Jamshedpur FC look to halt FC Goa’s charge for top spot

Back to winning ways after a five-game winless streak, Jamshedpur FC will look to continue their good show in front of their home crowd when Owen Coyle’s boys take on an in-form FC Goa in an Indian Super League (ISL) encounter at JRD Tata Sports Complex on Friday.
Goa are on a three-match winning run and sitting at the second spot (19 points from 10 games) behind leaders Mohun Bagan Super Giant (20 from 9), they will pose a big challenge for the Red Miners for sure. The visitors will be eager to leapfrog the Kolkata giants, who have just one point more with a game in hand, before facing them in a home game next Saturday.
On fifth spot of the table with 18 points from 10 games , JFC, too, have high stakes in the game. The hosts can also enjoy sitting atop the table for a while with a win against Goa as the league is in the crucial last phase.
Jamshedpur will be coming into the game on the back of a dominant 4-1 win against Chennaiyin FC. With their attackers firing and a strong home support at the Furnace, JFC will be hopeful of stalling the rampaging Gaurs.
FC Goa, meanwhile, head into the tie on the back of a comprehensive 2-0 away win over NorthEast United FC a week ago. With a hat-trick of wins they will look to carry on the momentum for three vital points before heading home.
“It will be a difficult game for both teams, Jamshedpur, especially at home, are very strong and they haven’t lost a single game at home yet this season, but let’s see, we are also going forward with good momentum,” Goa gead coach Manolo Marquez said ahead of the game on Thursday.
The home side had won both the ISL fixtures between the sides last season, and would love to continue that streak on Friday evening while Goa will be eager to log full points to continue their surge.
