In two days, 18 bitten by stray dog in Chatra

Chatra: A stray dog has bitten 18, including two minors, sparking fear in Tandwa town area of the district. From Saturday to Sunday evening, a dog has attacked people, biting them on the legs, hands, shoulders, and even head.Sources said the first attack by the dog was reported from Tandwa bazar, where two minor brothers were playing. The dog had bitten them at different parts of the body before it was chased away by the area residents.The injured were brought to the Tandwa community health centre (CHC), where they were administered anti-rabbies injections. Dr Jai Narayan Gupta of the Tandwa CHC said, “This is the first time that I saw dog bite cases in only two days. Most of the injuries were deep.”“Stray dogs become aggressive after eating carcass during rainy season. The residents dispose of carcass near residential areas, which should be strictly avoided,” he added.One of the victims, Raju Kumar (27), said he was sitting outside his house when the dog attacked him. “I was bitten on the leg. It ran away when I started shouting. I got anti-rabbies injection at the Tandwa CHC,” he added.Meanwhile, the victims of dog bites have not complained either to police or to block officials.
