RANCHI: The Jharkhand high court on Friday asked the state to identify officials who had transferred government land to private individuals illegally and to take action against them.
A division bench of Chief Justice Bhagwati Prasad and Justice D N Patel took serious note of the fact that government land was illegally given to private individuals in nexus with the officials.

The PIL was filed by Rajneesh Mishra and Ashish Kumar Singh demanding the court's intervention over the rising traffic and encroachment problems in Ranchi and other cities of the state.
The court also asked the state to identify such officials who were involved in such act and take action against them. the government was also asked to run the encroachment drive peacefully and no violence should take place.
The district administration, Ranchi Regional Development Authority (RRDA) and the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) briefed the court about the action being taken in removing the encroachments from the state capital.
The court granted one week to Axis Bank situated in the basement of the marketing complex at Sarjana Chowk to shift. The hearing of the case was adjourned to March 11 and RMC, RRDA and district administration were asked to file status report on anti-encroachment drive.
Meanwhile, the district administration on Friday removed encroachments from Main Road and boundary walls of Basudev Automobile, Autobikes, Godrej Showroom, and Planet Masala in the afternoon.
Survey work of constructions without valid clearance of maps was done in the city by a special team of RMC and RRDA. The district administration has said such constructions will be demolished.
