RANCHI: Police conducted raids in multiple locations to nab the second accused involved in mowing down of sub-inspector (SI) Sandhya Topno under Tupudana police outpost on Tuesday night. The police would also pray in the court to issue a warrant against him.
Sources said police are trying to identify those in Odisha who supplied the cattle and also the person who was to receive the consignment at Kantatoli in Ranchi.

The SI was conducting a vehicle-checking drive near Hulhundu under Tupudana police outpost when the pick-up van carrying cattle mowed her down. She was taken to a hospital, where the doctors declared her brought dead.
Ranchi SSP Kishore Kaushal said, “We are conducting an investigation to catch the culprits and also bust the network involved in illegal smuggling of cattle.”
The last rites of the SI were performed at a cemetery in Singh More in Ranchi on Thursday.
Sandhya’s younger brother, Ajit Topno, said the family wanted a senior level officer to probe the incident. “The family knows what has been verbally told by the police about the incident. The investigation would bring out the truth,” he said.
An inquiry should also be held into the circumstances in which she was sent to Hulhundu for checking while claiming that the number of policemen with her was inadequate.
The police registered a case under sections 302, 353 and 34 of the IPC and section 12 of Jharkhand Bovine Animal Prevention of Slaughter Act on Wednesday.
