Hemant Soren bats for RJD’s Ghuran in Garhwa

GARHWA: Former chief minister and JMM working president Hemant Soren on Tuesday termed the BJP government at the Centre and in the state as “jumlebaaj ki sarkar (government of rhetoric)” at a public rally in Garhwa.

, fielded by the

mahagathbandhan

constituents, at Raja Talab ground in Dhurki block, 55km from the district headquarters.

“The BJP has divided the entire country on the basis of religion and caste. This is the party which has encouraged mob lynching of a certain community members in the name cow protection,” Soren alleged. He further added, “The state government has asked its officials, especially block development officers (BDO) and circle officers to draw crowd at BJP rallies.”

Soren appealed to the people to vote in favour of Ghuran Ram, who will face BJP’s sitting MP V D Ram when the constituency goes to the polls on April 29.

Ghuran, who had won the parliamentary seat in 2006

on RJD ticket, said, “I appeal to the people to vote for me on basis of my performance as an MP in the past. I am a local and have always worked for the people and development of the region.”

Meanwhile, the Garhwa district administration on Tuesday declared a public holiday on the day of voting. Deputy commissioner Harsh Mangla said, “All the government offices and public institutions will remain closed on the day of polling.”
