Heatwave response initiative: District-wide campaign launched to combat heatwave; public water booths established to aid vulnerable citizens
Bokaro: Following chief minister Hemant Soren’s directive, deputy commissioner Ajay Nath Jha on Sunday launched a districtwide campaign from his official residence to tackle the growing heatwave and drinking water crisis. He set up a water booth outside his residence gate in the Camp-2 area.
In view of the soaring temperatures across the district, the administration has ordered the installation of public drinking water booths at marketplaces, govt offices, busy intersections and crowded public places in both urban and rural areas.
Officials said women, children and elderly citizens are the worst affected by the extreme heat, making access to safe drinking water a top priority. Police station in-charges were also asked to ensure immediate arrangements for water kiosks in their respective areas.
The administration also instructed departments to identify water-scarce regions, deploy water tankers, repair defunct hand pumps and water towers, and arrange alternative water supply wherever necessary.
