HC registrar suspended

Ranchi: The standing committee of Jharkhand high court suspended registrar (vigilance) Mushtaq Ahmed on Thursday after Tara Shahdeo’s made a reference to him in her statement. Acting on a complaint filed by one Rajesh Singh, the court issued a show cause notice to the registrar, asking him to explain his conduct as has been mentioned by Tara in her statement recorded before the judicial magistrate on August 21.

Acting on a complaint filed by one Rajesh Singh, the court issued a show cause notice to the registrar, asking him to explain his conduct as has been mentioned by Tara in her statement recorded before the judicial magistrate on August 21.Confirming the suspension and show cause notice, registrar general of Jharkhand High Court, AV Singh said the court received a complaint about Ahmed in connection with the Tara Shahdeo case, acting on which, he was suspended with immediate effect.Tara, in her statement recorded before judicial magistrate, has named vigilance registrar Mushtaq Ahmed several times as her husband’s friend. She said Ahmed represented Kohli’s side of the family while her friends were present on her behalf during the first round of talks for marriage on June 15. She also mentioned that Ahmed was also present with them when the talks for marriage were being finalized. According to Tara, Ahmed had suggested them to verify Kohli’s credentials at least once before marriage.Tara has again mentioned Ahmed in her statement saying that when she was forced for ‘Nikah’ under Islamic rituals on July 8, the only person known to her and present there was Mushtaq Ahmed.After marriage, Tara and Kohli were invited to a party at Ahmed’s residence.
