Hazaribag: Police in a joint operation with the forest department destroyed illegal poppy cultivation spread over nearly 100 acres under Chouparan police station area on Thursday.Acting on a tip-off, the joint team conducted the operation in Anjan village, where poppy crops were found illegally grown across several locations. The standing crop was destroyed on the spot. Fourteen delivery pipes used for irrigation were also seized and destroyed during the drive.

Police said verification of the identities of those involved in the illegal cultivation is underway. SDPO Ajit Kumar Vimal said, “Drones are being used to identify poppy cultivation in difficult and forested terrain. Cases will be registered against those involved in the cultivtaion and legal action will be initiated.”
