Hazaribag: The district administration stopped the construction of buildings at Sanjeevani township located on the side of the Bokaro river, about 10 km from here, on the Hazaribag-Barkagaon road for alleged violation of the CNT Act. This step was taken following the instruction issued by the commissioner of North Chotonagpur division to the deputy commissioner.
On the basis of the above letter, an inquiry was conducted by the additional collector who subsequently submitted his report to DC Manish Ranjan on May 25 who immediately stopped the construction work in the township which was going on in full swing. The probe report said the land was sold and registered in the names of several erstwhile owners. It was found that after changing several hands, the lands were registered in the name of one of the directors of Sanjeevani Buildcon Shyam Kishore Gupta. Gupta then sold the land to investors after making plots in 16 places.
The inquiry revealed that before the settlement of the above land in the name of Gupta, it belonged to the ST/ SCs or OBCs and thus it was found to be a case of violation of the CNT Act. "As per the order of the high court, such land cannot be transferred and hence the construction work has been stayed," an official said. tnn
