Hazaribag: Sahiyas (female health workers) of Keredari block in Hazaribag went on an indefinite strike from Monday accusing gross mismanagement at the Keredari Community Health Centre (CHC). Earlier in the day, they also burnt the effigy of health minister Irfan Ansari claiming that the department was patronising wrong officials.
Notably, the CHC hit headlines last week for allegedly conducting tubectomy surgery under the light of mobile torches. However, Ansari later backed the authorities here stating that they did a good job by continuing the surgery despite some mechanical issues with the generator. The minister added that he would felicitate such doctors who performed tubectomy under flashlights.
Raising slogans as “Health minister murdabad” and “Irfan Ansari hosh mein aao”, the protestors marched from the block office to Keredari Chowk. They accused the minister of shielding the CHC in-charge Dr Nafis Anjum instead of initiating corrective measures to improve healthcare services.
