Hazaribag Police Arrest Six in Mobile Snatching Ring, Recover 19 Phones

Hazaribag: The police have arrested six people on Monday night in connection with a series of mobile phone snatching incidents reported from the Bada Bazar OP area of Hazaribag district.As many as 19 stolen mobile phones, along with a scooty and a motorcycle, were recovered from their possession, police said on Tuesday. Officials said information was received on Monday about repeated mobile-snatching incidents being carried out by a group of youths in the busy Bada Bazar OP area. A special search and arrest operation was launched under the supervision of SDPO Sadar Amit Anand. During the intervening night of Feb 2 and 3, police conducted raids at various locations in the city based on technical and human intelligence. After verification, six accused were arrested from different parts of the urban area. The arrested accused were identified as Rahul Kumar Gupta alias Chhotu (19), Dev Kumar Gupta alias Golu (20), Amar Kumar alias Bablu (19), Pawan Kumar (23), Mohammad Hasnen (24) and Sumit Kumar (23), all residents of different localities under Hazaribag district.Hazaribag SP Anjani Anjan confirmed the arrests and said that 14 mobile phones were recovered from the accused, which were used in the snatching incidents, while five more mobile phones were seized during verification. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the involvement of the accused in other similar incidents, police said.
