RAMGARH: A police constable posted at the Urimari police outpost in Hazaribag district was shot dead by two miscreants when he was returning home after office hours on Friday night. On Saturday, police cracked the case and arrested three persons, including the wife of the deceased constable, for the crime.
Ramgarh SP Piyush Pandey said constable Pankaj Kumar Das (28) was waylaid by two motorcycle-borne miscreants, who shot him five times in the head, on Friday night when he was returning home at Sankul villager under the Patratu block of Ramgarh district on his motorcycle after duty hours.
Patratu sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Birendra Kumar Chaudhary said commuters passing on the road informed the police about the incident after which a team of police reached the spot and took the critically injured constable to the Ramgarh district hospital. The doctors, however, declared him brought dead.
According to police, Naina Kumari (24), the wife of the deceased, was allegedly having an affair with one Monu Paswan alias Manohar Kumar and together, they hatched a plan to kill Das so that she can get his job on compassionate grounds along with other government benefits and then they live together. The SP said Naina was arrested from her house at Sankul and two others, who committed the crime, including Monu. The other arrested is Monu's aide Om Prakash Sinha.
