Govt initiates for Swami Vivekananda statue construction at Ranchi Lake

soon. The foundation stone for the Rs 20 crore project will be laid by chief minister Raghubar Das on the occasion of National Youth Day on January 12, marking the 154th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

Padmashree Ram V Sutar who is also designing the under-construction 597 feet Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel statue of unity in Vadodara, Gujarat, has been assigned to design this statue too.

“As of now, the detailed project report (DPR) for constructing a bridge from the lake side to the island is approved. The tender for completing the bridge will be the next step. The statue being made by Ram V Sutar at Noida will be brought and installed after the bridge construction,” said

secretary Rahul Sharma.

The tourism, art, culture and sports department will conduct a month-long statewide campaign on the eve of the youth day. “A Yuva Jagran Rath yatra will be started from the birth place of Birsa Munda, Ulihatu on December 21. Books, pamphlets, calendars, folders and posters related to Swami Vivekananda will be distributed from a rath in 24 districts,” said department minister Amar Kumar Bauri.

“Audio-video clippings of Swami Vivekananda will be shown in every district’s high schools and colleges. The yatra will conclude at the Birsa Munda memorial in Kokar,” the minister added.

Symposiums in 11 universities, debate competitions in schools NCC and NSS rallies will also mark the occasion.
