Ranchi: The Giridih jail superintendent,
Raj Mohan Rajan
, was arrested for allegedly molesting a 13- year-old girl on Friday, police said on Saturday.
According to a complaint lodged by the minor's father, Rajan entered his house when his daughter and younger son were alone and committed the crime. It is also learnt that the accused gave the girl Rs 500 for sweets when she protested.
Notably, the accused was acquainted to the girl’s father and both used to visit each other’s homes regularly. A case under Section 354 (A) related to sexual harassment and punishment for sexual harassment of the
Indian Penal Code
and relevant sections of the
Pocso Act has been registered against the officer.

said, “We will take the legal course in the case. The arrested officer will be forwarded to jail after his Covid test report is received.”
Police will take the statement of the girl before the court and produce her before the child welfare committee.
