Daltonganj: A joint team from two police stations in Palamu district arrested five members of a gang, including a woman, involved in 14 burglary and theft cases. One of the cases is registered in Uttar Pradesh, the police said on Tuesday.
Palamu SP Reeshma Rameshan said the accused Raja Dome (23), Lucky Dome (19), Akash Dome (19), Ashu Chandravanshi (18) and Sunita Dome (45), mother of Akash used to break into locked houses and stole valuables during night. All are residents of Town police station limits and were arrested on Monday.
The arrests were made by the team comprising cops from Town and Chainpur police stations. Of the total, six cases are registered with Town police station, two with Chainpur police station and five with the Garhwa police station in Garhwa district.
"The thieves used to target locked houses. They used to recce during daytime and strike at night,” said SP. Jewelleries valued at Rs 4 lakh, including 30 gms of gold and 400 gms of silver, were recovered from the accused. That apart, antique coins, dating back to 1875, 1878, and 1901, were also recovered from them.
