Ranchi: Two persons were arrested for allegedly killing a woman and injuring her husband at Katud village in Khunti district over collection of ‘karanj’ fruit, police said. The deceased was identified as Soni Pahan, 45, while her injured husband was Guiyyan Pahan, 50.
Khunti sub-divisional police officer Varun Rajak said, “The couple’s nephews Hangra Pahan, 25, and Kunwar Pahan, 20, have been arrested. The axe and the lathi used in the crime have been seized.”
Citing the FIR, police said that the accused forcibly entered the victim’s house and attacked the woman in her sleep on Wednesday. They assaulted Guiyyan when he raised an alarm. The victims were rushed to the hospital, where Soni died.
