Four-hour power outage disrupts daily life in city

Ranchi: Several areas experienced a power outage on Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm due to maintenance work on the 33 KV Namkum-Kokar rural feeder and installation of a new 10 MVA transformer at the 33/11 KV Kokar Urban Power Substation.The scheduled work hit electricity supply in Kokar, Lalpur, Kantatoli, Circular Road, Chunabhatta, Ayodhyapuri, Bandhgari, Kokar Industrial Area, Samlong, and surrounding areas.Business owner Vinod Choudhary of Jaiswal Kirana shop in Chunna Bhatta said, "My business suffered as we rely heavily on electricity for billing and refrigeration. The four-hour outage led to considerable losses."Homemaker Sunita Devi from Kokar said, "Without prior backup, all household chores were delayed. Water supply was also affected as our pump didn't work."College student Anjali Verma from Kantatoli added, "An important online class and submission deadline were disrupted."Manmohan Kumar, general manager of the JBVNL's Ranchi supply area, said, "The shutdown was necessary for repairing the 33 KV Namkum-Kokar rural feeder and enhancing power infrastructure in the region." The electricity department had notified residents about the outage.
