The accused include Deepak Tiwari, Dinesh Ravi, Deepak Kumar and Sandeep Kashyap, Garhwa SP Priyadarshi Alok said.

The survivor, a resident of Chutia village of Ranka police station, was intercepted near the forest when she was returning home with her husband. The accused thrashed her husband, who is a labourer, before taking the woman into the forest where they raped her before fleeing, police said.

The survivor's husband informed the villagers about the incident after reaching home. The villagers rushed to the spot where they found the survivor lying unconscious. They brought her home and informed the police.

"The victim has been sent to the Garhwa sadar hospital for medical examination,'' said Ranka police station officer in-charge Narendra Kumar Sinha.
