Former executive engineer of road division in Chatra was arrested on Wednesday in a case related to forged bank gurantee paper submitted by a contractor to get a road contract of Rs 1.65 crore. On instruction of superintendent of police Rakesh Ranjan, he was arrested by sadar police.

Chatra: Former executive engineer of road division in Chatra was arrested on Wednesday in a case related to forged bank gurantee paper submitted by a contractor to get a road contract of Rs 1.65 crore. On instruction of superintendent of police Rakesh Ranjan, he was arrested by sadar police. Shaligram Singh was posted in the district between 2007 and 2012. During this tenure, a contract was awarded to a person for widening of Chatra-Chouparan road.

Later, the contractor dumped the work and left making the withdrawal of the entire fund. Despite reminders, the contractor didn't turn up following which a probe was ordered which brought to fore the fact that forged gurantee paper was submitted.
