Fire Breaks Out at Jharkhand Police Headquarters Data Centre: Damage and Response

Ranchi: A fire broke out in the development room of data centre at police headquarters in Ranchi early on Tuesday morning causing damage to hard copy records, computers, air-conditioners, furniture and other equipment. The Jharkhand Police’s crime and criminal tracking network system, HRMS of special branch and the in-house software team operate from the room.Two fire extinguisher vehicles arrived at the spot at around 5:30 am and extinguished the flames within 20 minutes. A special branch senior officer also reached the spot to take stock of the situation. In a press statement, state police headquarters said, “The fire broke out due to short circuit at around 5 am. Due to active efforts by the employees present on the premises all important machines and equipment were saved.”The police said that there was no damage to the critical services, adding that all intra and public services of Jharkhand Police were working smoothly.Police said that on the instruction of senior officers the safety and preventive measures are being taken.
