RAMGARH: Some imposters from the state and neighbouring
Bihar are spreading panic in Patratu block by imitating the extortion tactics of Maoists to collect levy from contractors and businessmen.
S P Anish Gupta said CPI(Maoist) and it's splinter groups have stopped their activities and such incidents had come down in Patratu following series of arrests made over the last few months.
However, taking advantage of the situation, these groups of men got into action and let the terror persist by threatening companies engaged in various development projects here and attacking workers and setting ablaze construction equipment.
Police arrested a person from Gaya in connection with the recent attack on a road construction company in Balkudra. He, along with his associates, posed as Maoists and demanded levy.
"Police have arrested
Pintu Kumar from Rasalpur in Bihar's Gaya district, who claimed to be an active member of a rebel outfit and confessed that his outfit has left threatening posters in the base camp demanding levy, but preliminary investigation showed that they have no connection with CPI(Maoists)," said the SP.
But the SP said the posters left behind by the imposters were written with blue ink while Maoists usually use red ink.
